Louise Hayes

Louise Hayes is the Executive Director of Digital Health and Knowledge Management at Townsville Hospital and Health Service. Louise is an experienced digital health enthusiast and health informatician, working across the health sector for over 20 years, in areas of strategy development, eHealth foundation design and implementation of electronic medical record solutions.

Qualifying as a CHIA (Certified Health Informatician Australiasia) in 2014 as one of Australia’s inaugural certified practitioners, she has confirmed her passion and growth into the digital health profession and demonstrated this through her many commitments of mentoring, lecturing, presenting at conferences, conducting workshops, writing articles, and Chairing the Health Informatics Society of Australia, Queensland Branch.

Paul Sullivan

Paul joined the ieMR team in January 2015 as Project Manager for the Digital Release and to assist with implementation of the Release 1 & 2 goLIVE.

He came to the team with 19 years of IT and Project Management experience across Defence, Commercial, and Government Enterprise.  Prior to joining Qld Health, he successfully delivered a portfolio of IT Infrastructure and Applications projects within Fujitsu, Aurizon and the Northern Territory Government.

Paul recently completed a Graduate Certificate of Business at JCU and is focused on ensuring a high quality outcome for the Townsville Hospital and Health Service as we close in on the Advanced Release goLIVE and ultimately a Digital Hospital.


Mel Nicolson

Mel is the Clinical Director for the Advanced Release Project. Mel joined the ieMR team in 2015 and has over 18 year’s experience in Medical Imaging.

Mel was on the project team that implemented QRIS (Queensland Radiology Information System) in 2007, with Medical Imaging TTH being the pilot site for Queensland Health.

Mel is the Subject Matter Expert for Orders Entry Results Reporting (OERR) for Radiology and Pathology and will expand this role to include Medication ordering, PowerPlans and Administration with the Advanced Release. Mel has knowledge of FirstNet & Care Delivery across the Nursing and Medical Modules.


Michelle Palmer

Michelle was the Project Manager for Vitals Integration. During ieMR Digital Release she was Project Lead for training and implementation. She joined the ieMR team in 2014 and was involved in Release 1 & 2 in March 2015.

Michelle has a background in operations management and worked as a management consultant in various industries on business improvement initiatives in Australia, New Zealand and USA.


Michael Barber

Technical Lead  | 443 35439
Michael has been a member of Queensland Health for nine years. He was the Technical Lead for the ieMR Digital Release and was the Team Leader for the TTH Software Development team.

For the Advanced Release Michael will be overseeing the integration of the medications and anaesthetics devices for the purposes of closed loop medications. Other duties include managing device procurement and deployment, system testing and integration as well many other technical aspects of the project.

Michael has a background in information & technology management, data integration and business analysis.
